A headline in the Salt Lake Tribune $1.5 Million revives fallout study and a response by Eleanore. A similar article can be found in the Kingman Daily Miner.

Good Morning,

I have a question to ask about why we did not get the testing done here. Please check the figures as to how many families are affected. Contract DR. Terry Woods, (Phoenix Children Hospital, St Joseph, and Maricopa General , all in Phoenix) and staff who treat children among their partners. Many of our children were also treated in Las Vegas, City of ST. Jude's, and Salt Lake as well as in California. This is to say the same for our adults, who were and are being treated for leukemia. If one would check the cancer rate for child cancer in Mohave County with the Phoenix Children Cancer Hospital one would find out the scary facts about the amount of children whom has and had cancer here. I had a doctor, there asked me what is going on Mohave County up there? You have so may being admitted. I know for a fact; as My granddaughter was a patient there! 10 years as a cancer patient whom was diagnosed when she was 11 months old and stayed on chemo until she was 9 years old. She was one of the spared ones, she out did the odds given to us. While it was shocking to see families, whom we knew were coming in with their children with cancer illness. Many had died. The lucky ones are in remission. No one knows what it took to make 3 trips a week to Phoenix. Payments for house payments, and a car just to get to the doctors was another issue. That not counting the everyday meds needed or staying in the Ronald Mc Donald home. Praise that this was an option. the sad part there was more than 17 children with leukemia than Graham County. I have seen that many, way back in 1985 until the present time.

Why is not the Health Committee Studying our county ? Which by the way ,whom is right next door to the state of Nevada test Site and not way down eastern part of the state. We have parents whom children never had a chance to finish school, married or be part of a family photo. Their child died. I need to ask for your help to have this study done in Mohave!

Being a co-founder of the Mohave County Downwinders and seeing our victims on the thyroid members on the medicines. Lets be fair, if the people here were not on thyroid medicine, it would make a change in the pharmacy's income . So many have lost their gland, and are on the pills to make a difference in their lives. We not only had the radiation fallout for years way past 1963 as there was testing done until late 1980's, but we had the dairys that brought the milk (in tankers to be bottle as the owners dairy) here for our schools ,and homes to drink. The milk came from the fields in Utah, and we had our own cattle grazing here on the radiation grass, and they (cattle) drank the water from the Colorado River. Oh yes, the river proclaimed to be the most dangerous polluted River just on April 14, 2004 by the EPA and our own Governor of Arizona. It is filled with radiation from all of the years of testing and storing the uranium which was dumped into the river. Many of the upstream states contaminate the water, while the current is coming into Mohave County and all the way though to Mexico. My hat goes off to the county Rep John Kobe's whom took an interest in their studies in his county. Please lets be fair to the Northern Part of Mohave County and have us treated equaly. The state stats shows that we have the highest CANCER RATE, with one other county of the state for the last 50 years. I am asking for some one to step up to the plate, and say to the needed study DO MOHAVE COUNTY!! Help the very people whom has suffered the most, and put them in the study, the NCI (National Cancer Int) was advised differently, and now they know their stats were wrong. The National Academy of Scientist are made aware of the problems that lay with Mohave County from all of their studies, and the information given to them also by our group.

Thank You for your time.
Respectfully Yours
